Steinberg’s VST (Virtual Studio Technology) Effects are software plugins which can process a multitude of different musical effects, and simulate many different hardware effects devices (such as guitar pedals).

The VST effects are usually downloaded as ‘.dll’ files, which are often stored insided ‘.zip’ files.  To use the effects, you will need to save the .dll file into the VST folder of your chosen music software.  Many free and commercial music sequencers support the loading of VST files, and some pieces of software known as ‘VST hosts’ serve that exclusive purpose.   Some VST hosts may be found in the ‘Free Music Software’ section of this website.

Please send me your suggestions - what are your favourite VST Effects?
