NOTE: Tu2 is only part freeware - if you wish to unlock ‘extended’ features you are required to register (read: pay a little money). Aside from this, it appears totally free.
Tu2 is a (standalone) phrase sampler which means it will make music and sound out of samples you feed it. Tu2 will stack samples, loops and soundbites for you. You can slice ‘n dice them, mutilate them, filter them, remix them, put effects over them and while you’re at it you have the freedom to put your own personal sonic sauce over the outcome. It has numerous built-in effects and tools which will help you mangle your samples any way you like.
Freeware mode
Yes, you can use Tu2 for free. The basic (most important) functionality is then available to you, including the Variator, a drumcomputer, WAV-export and an integrated sample editor.
Extended mode
If you’d like to unlock more features (user-drawable filters, effects, MP3 export, etc.) you can register Tu2 for a discounted price.

Hi Everyone,
For those of you out there in computer land, spending a lazy Sunday browsing the catacombs of freemusicsoftware.org, here are a few links I have come across to keep your mojo flowing:
1. The AmateurMusician.co.uk articles page - Music related articles, dealing with a wide range of topics, such as Music Theory, Bass Playing, and handling your Music obsessed kids.
2. The Intervall-Audio.com link page - A large collection of valuable Music Resources and indexed on this page.

Cheers,
Crispin

According to the website:
Moduloop is a standalone sound mangling/manipulation tool made using MAX/MSP, specifically geared towards users of drum loops – there is, however, no limitation as to what grooves you decide to moduloop. You can import any wav or aiff file, although the program works best on predefined loops of audio, as it syncs the BPM of the loops to the modulation matrix..
You can use pre-looped samples from sample CDs, or set up sound loops processed in your favourite software package (Peak, Wavelab, Soundforge, etc). The loops can be as long or short as you wish. Once truncated, you can then import your processed loops into programs such as recycle to do further sonic damage - or re-import them into Moduloop for more carnage. Moduloop can record ‘live’ for on-the-fly processing of sound files. Alternatively it can be used as part of a live set-up using a laptop.
This application is not a commercial product - you can download and use Moduloop for free. The downloadable zipped folder includes a readme.txt file on how to install and use. You don’t need MAX/MSP for the program to work as it has the max/msp engine built in for standalone use.
Warning:
The modulation matrix can be extremely powerful (sonically), and must be handled with care. When using the comb filter function, ensure you turn each dial down to it’s minimum and work slowly upwards to avoid any unexpected (and dangerous!) peaks in the signal that could potentially damage your ears or equipment.

NOTE: A TUTORIAL TO SETUP BUZZ UNDER LINUX CAN BE FOUND HERE
Buzz is the first ever “easy to use” free modular software based synthesizer. What this means is that the entire system is based on objects, which may be routed in a modular fashion, giving you the freedom to be as creative as you want. For example, if you wish to run 3 Physical Modelling synths and a Drum Machine through 2 seperate Stereo Delays, into a Mixer, through a Compressor and Parameteric EQ, and finally out to your speakers - no problem. Lay down your synths, connect the wires and you’re done.
A Machine is an object in Buzz which either creates or modifies sound. A Machine is the equivalent of a single piece of gear in a traditional music studio. It may be a synthesizer, a sampler, a dsp effect, a mixing board, or any other piece of gear that exists in a studio. Every piece has the same parameters and functions you would expect to find in the studio you know and love. Whats better is that all existing machines are free. Because creating your own machines is quite simple (someone with little knowledge of C++ should find his way in the SDK), you’ll also find machines in Buzz which aren’t really common in studio’s.
Every aspect of Buzz is built to be controlled in real-time. This means that as you tweak the resonance on a virtual analog synth, you hear it’s classic squealching response immidietly. The same goes for all DSP effects, drum machines, synths, samples, etc.

NOTE: THIS SOFTWARE APPEARS TO BE ABANDONWARE. THERE IS A GOOD FAQ, HOWEVER.
SuperJAM! (by Blue Ribbon Soundworks) is a MIDI “jamming” program. The idea is that, rather than composing and arranging all the parts of a musical work, the user can give some basic information to the program — chords, musical style, general tone or personality of the music, what instruments to use — and the program will handle the details, generating complete arrangements in real time. The user can modify the arrangements at any level, add a melody, print sheet music using the included Notation Station, and export the song as a MIDI file.

Shuangs WAV to MP3 Converter is a simple tool that enables you to convert WAV files to MP3, WMA or OGG format. You can select bitrate settings and convert multiple files at once.
